Classes
Forever Class Deep Dives: Priest, Warrior, Hunter, Druid
Blizzard's September 30 Class Deep Dives detail Forever's Priest, Warrior, Hunter and Druid trees: a Priest racial pass with two spells per race, the original Warrior Rage formula, pets that scale with the Hunter's gear, and shapeshifting that keeps weapon procs.

Fear, stun and silence move most in Forever's next four classes
Blizzard published two more Class Deep Dives for World of Warcraft: Forever on September 30, one covering Priest and Warrior and one covering Hunter and Druid. Across the four classes the heaviest concentration of change sits on crowd control and the ways out of it: Silent Resolve now shortens Stun, Fear and Silence on the Priest, Iron Will cuts Stun duration for Warriors instead of raising resistance to it, Entrapment always roots when a trap fires, Overgrowth puts Entangling Roots on up to three targets, and Berserk removes Fear and makes a Feral Druid immune to it for 15 seconds.
The second theme is the one that will decide builds. Each of the four classes gains new 16-point milestone talents, and three of the four get a new 31-point capstone: Prayer of Mending for Holy Priests, Sniper Shot and Lacerating Strikes for Hunters, Berserk and Wild Growth for Druids. Blizzard says of the Priest and Warrior pass that "as beta testing continues, we'll keep reviewing how these updates play in dungeons, PvP, and the open world."
Forever launches on November 4, 2026, and Blizzard states that class abilities and talents may keep changing during the beta.
The rules every Forever build follows
Both articles restate the same framework, and it applies to all thirteen classes:
- Talents open at level 10 and the trees keep their original row structure.
- One-point milestone talents sit at 11, 21 and 31 points, joined by a new 16-point milestone.
- Talents are changed at a class trainer in a major city, Legacy talents included.
- Dual Specialization unlocks at level 40.
- Some talents are unchanged from patch 1.12 and others were adjusted or improved.
- Blessing of Kings and Improved Mark of the Wild are now baseline for their classes.
- Class abilities and talents are still in beta and are subject to further change.
The ruleset, racial rebuild and Legacy Points framework those trees sit inside are covered in the Forever rulesets and racials guide, and the Rogue, Warlock, Mage and Shaman trees from the same series are in the previous instalment.
Priest: six races, two spells each, and Penance returns
Priests specialise in Discipline, Holy or Shadow, and Blizzard keeps the class a versatile Light-and-Shadow caster while widening the toolkit. The largest single item is the racial pass: every Priest race has two unique spells, all of them re-evaluated, and Gnome Priests get a new pair.
Priest abilities and racials outside the trees
- Fear Ward is available to all Priests at level 20, regardless of race.
- Devouring Plague is available to all Priests at level 20, regardless of race.
- Priest racial abilities: each race has two unique spells, all fully re-evaluated, with new Gnome spells added.
- Fade: threat reduction doubled.
- Prayer of Healing heals all members of the target's party and their pets, rather than the Priest's own party.
- Shadow Word: Death is baseline at level 32. It deals instant Shadow damage, and if it does not kill the target the Priest takes 10% of maximum health as damage. 15 second cooldown.
- Divine Spirit is baseline for all Priests, learned at level 30.
- Renew: multiple Priests can have Renew active on the same target.
The racial spells, race by race
- Gnome: Confounding Flash, at level 10, confuses up to 5 nearby enemies for 3 seconds and breaks on damage, with a 0.5 second cast and a 2 minute cooldown. Contingency Plan, at level 20, wards an ally for 30 seconds and grants an absorb shield and a heal over time when that ally falls below 35% health; it stacks with Renew and Power Word: Shield, instant cast, 5 minute cooldown.
- Dwarf: Desperate Prayer is unchanged. Chastise, at level 20, damages and immobilises a Humanoid target for 2 seconds, instant cast, 2 minute cooldown.
- Human: Divine Grace, at level 10, instantly heals a friendly target below 50% health and removes Weakened Soul, cannot target the caster, 5 minute cooldown. Feedback is unchanged.
- Night Elf: Starshards, at level 10, has much higher damage and a 30 second cooldown. Elune's Grace, at level 20, cuts the chance for melee and ranged attacks to hit by 50% for 15 seconds or until 3 attacks miss, 5 minute cooldown.
- Troll: Hex of Weakness and Shadowguard are unchanged.
- Undead: Touch of Weakness is unchanged. Dark Sacrifice, at level 20, converts the Priest's own health into Mana over time, with the Mana gain increased by Spirit.
Discipline Priest
- Power in Light: new row 1 talent that increases Smite and Penance damage against targets afflicted by the Priest's Holy Fire.

- Improved Inner Fire: larger armor bonus and additional charges.

- Renewed Hope: new talent requiring Soul Warding; increases the critical chance of the listed heals and of Penance against targets with Weakened Soul, and each such heal shortens that debuff.
- Divine Aegis: critical heals create a 12 second absorb shield on the target based on a percentage of the healing done; it does not stack.
Removed: Unbreakable Will, combined into Silent Resolve; Improved Power Word: Fortitude and Divine Spirit, now baseline; and Force of Will.
Holy Priest

- Spiritual Healing: costs only 3 points for the same benefit.

- Shadowform: allows all non-healing spells, reduces Shadow spell mana cost by 50% and raises the Shadow critical damage bonus by 100%, while lowering the flat Shadow damage bonus.
Removed: Improved Vampiric Embrace.
Warrior: the old Rage formula and three cooldowns off one timer
Warriors fight through Arms, Fury and Protection, turning Rage, stances and weapon mastery into momentum. Two of the baseline changes matter more than any single talent: Rage generation goes back to the original formula, and the three big personal cooldowns stop sharing a timer.
Warrior abilities outside the trees
- Rage: Rage from taking damage uses the original formula as if the Warrior always had 50% damage reduction from Armor, ignoring Armor and absorb effects such as Power Word: Shield. Rage from dealing damage is based on weapon speed, and critical strikes grant 75% more Rage than normal strikes.
- Tactical Mastery: learned at level 14, keeps 10 Rage when changing stances, and can be improved with Arms talents.
- Victory Rush: learned at level 20, a 30 second cooldown instant attack that deals damage scaled by Attack Power and heals for 10% of maximum health. It activates for 20 seconds after killing a non-trivial enemy.
- Recklessness: no longer shares a cooldown with Shield Wall or Retaliation.
- Retaliation: no longer shares a cooldown with Recklessness or Shield Wall, and its cooldown is reduced to 15 minutes.
- Shield Wall: no longer shares a cooldown with Recklessness or Retaliation, and its cooldown is reduced to 15 minutes.

- Battle Shout: Attack Power bonus reduced, with the Improved Battle Shout benefit built in.

Arms Warrior

- Improved Overpower: moved from row 3 to row 2.
- Anger Management: tooltip clarified, with no functional change.
- Spearing Strike: new 16-point talent, a 15 Rage instant attack on a 20 second cooldown that dismounts the target and deals double damage against mounted targets, dragons and giants.

Hunter: pets scale with your gear, and so does going without one
Hunters specialise in Beast Mastery, Marksmanship or Survival, and in Forever those trees centre on the pet, ranged attacks, and the trap-and-melee side of the class. The pet system is rewritten from both ends: a pet's stats now follow the Hunter's gear, and an 11-point talent pays the Hunter for having no pet out at all.

Druid: shapeshifting stops costing you your weapon
Druids move between Balance, Feral Combat and Restoration, and the Forever pass starts with the rule that has always decided whether a form is worth entering. In a form the equipped weapon keeps working, and so do its enchants and its procs. Each tree then gets two published lists, one for the spells it grants and one for the talents themselves.
Druid shapeshifting rules
Shapeshifting - the following now applies while the Druid is in a form:
- Consumables: potions and most similar consumables work while shapeshifted without cancelling the form. Rage potions and Thistletea are now usable by Druids. Most Engineering bombs still cannot be used, but the SAF-T and EZ-Thro recipes can.
- Weapon enchantments and procs work while shapeshifted, including weightstones, the Crusader enchant and Windfury Totem.
- Auto attack: in Bear, Cat or Dire Bear Form, melee auto-attack damage per second matches the equipped weapon's damage per second, with attack speed set to 1.0 or 2.5 seconds depending on the form. Weapon-damage abilities use these values.
- Objects: most doors and objects can be used while shapeshifted without cancelling the form.
- Racial abilities are usable while shapeshifted, including Shadowmeld, War Stomp and Walk on Air.
- Tiger's Fury is removed and replaced by the Feral talent Shifting Power.
Feral Druid: Claw, Shred and the Bear kit

- Swipe: gains increased damage from Attack Power, is available in Bear and Dire Bear Form only, and hits 3 targets.

What these four classes bring to a fifteen-player fight
Forever's flagship PvP mode is a 15v15 battleground, and the published changes read differently in that frame than they do in a duel. Four patterns stand out, and every one of them rests on a value Blizzard has printed.
Crowd control is bought with points, and so is the exit from it. Silent Resolve sits in the
Discipline tree and now cuts the duration of Stun, Fear and Silence on the Priest, which is a flat reduction a healer can spend into rather than a resistance roll. Iron Will does the same job for
Warriors from Arms row 2, having been changed from raising Stun resistance to reducing Stun duration. On the other side of the exchange, Entrapment always triggers when a trap fires and further points lengthen the root, Overgrowth puts Entangling Roots on up to three targets, and Improved Wing Clip reaches its 20% maximum at only 3 points. The two hardest answers to Fear both come from these four classes: Fear Ward is available to all Priests at level 20 regardless of race, and Berserk, a 31-point
Feral talent, removes Fear and grants immunity to it for 15 seconds on a 3 minute cooldown.
Two healers are retargeted away from their own party. Prayer of Healing now heals all members of the target's party and their pets rather than the Priest's own party, and Wild Growth, the new 31-point
Restoration capstone, places its heal over time on the party of the member it is cast on. In a fifteen-player battleground split into three groups, both spells stop being self-party tools and become the way a healer reaches the group that is actually under pressure. Gift of the Earthmother shaves 0.5 seconds off the global cooldown on Rejuvenation, Swiftmend and Wild Growth, and Swiftmend at 16 points no longer consumes Rejuvenation or Regrowth, so the fast Restoration answer costs nothing except the cooldown.
Race is a build decision for
Priests. The racial pass gives every Priest race two spells, and the four with an effect on a player target are not interchangeable. Confounding Flash confuses up to five nearby enemies for three seconds and breaks on damage, which only pays where five enemies stand together. Elune's Grace cuts the chance for melee and ranged attacks to hit by 50% for 15 seconds or until three attacks miss, which is a defensive window measured in attacks rather than seconds. Chastise immobilises a Humanoid for two seconds on a two-minute cooldown. Divine Grace instantly heals a friendly target below 50% health and removes Weakened Soul but cannot target the caster, so its value is entirely in what it does for someone else. Contingency Plan is the pre-emptive one, warding an ally for 30 seconds and paying out when they drop below 35% health.
Resource floors move for Warriors and Hunters, in opposite directions. Warrior Rage from taking damage uses the original formula as if the Warrior always had 50% reduction from Armor, and it ignores absorb effects including Power Word: Shield, which is the exact interaction a Discipline Priest creates on a melee teammate. Recklessness, Retaliation and Shield Wall come off a shared cooldown, and two of the three drop to 15 minutes, so a Warrior holds three separate buttons instead of choosing one. For
Hunters the change is a dependency rather than a floor: pet stats now rise with the Hunter's own gear, and pets can no longer receive player buffs that raise their stats, so a pet's power follows the Hunter rather than the group. Lone Wolf then pays 20% increased damage with all attacks for keeping no pet active, at 11 points, which makes petless a build with a number attached rather than a mistake. Spearing Strike is the other mode-specific item: a 15 Rage instant on a 20 second cooldown that dismounts its target and deals double damage against mounted targets.
Three Feral talents - Shredding Attacks, Shifting Power and Improved Shifting Power - are published with a note that they are not yet in the beta, and Blizzard says of the Priest and Warrior pass that "as beta testing continues, we'll keep reviewing how these updates play in dungeons, PvP, and the open world." Any of these values can still move before November 4.
Until Forever's own ladder exists, the closest live read on which of these four classes carries a large battleground is the Battleground Blitz spec ranking, where Restoration Druid, Discipline Priest and the Warrior and Hunter melee and ranged builds are already measured against each other at scale.

Forever's trees are a 1.12-era shape with new milestones, so the transferable practice is not the build - it is the habits the changes reward. Three of them can be drilled in Retail now.
- Healing across parties rather than inside one. Both Prayer of Healing and Wild Growth key off the target's group, so the skill is picking the right group to land them on. Rated battlegrounds are the Retail mode with the same shape, and the EU and US rated battleground ladders are where that is played out.
- Spending a defensive cooldown on duration rather than on damage. Silent Resolve, Iron Will and Berserk all pay for shortening or removing control, which is the same decision a
Restoration Druid or
Discipline Priest already makes under a kill attempt. - Treating a trap or a root as a committed cast. Entrapment always rooting, and Frost and Fire traps having separate cooldowns, turn trap placement into a rotation rather than a gamble, and
Beast Mastery and
Arms pressure windows are where the timing is learned.
The rated battleground ladder is also the honest check on whether a fifteen-player mode is currently being played at the rating you want to practise at.
For Forever itself, the rank track and honor rewards are in the PvP progression guide, the 15v15 map is covered in the Darkspear Islands guide, and the broader mode PvP guide carries the rulesets and the launch calendar. Forever launches on November 4, 2026.
FAQ
When do Forever's talents open, and where are they changed?
Talents open at level 10 and the trees keep their original row structure. One-point milestone talents sit at 11, 21 and 31 points, joined by a new 16-point milestone. Talents are changed at a class trainer in a major city, Legacy talents included, and Dual Specialization unlocks at level 40.
Which classes have Class Deep Dives so far?
Blizzard published Priest and Warrior, and Hunter and Druid, on September 30, and Mage and Shaman, and Rogue and Warlock, on October 7. That is eight of the thirteen classes. The October pair is covered in the Rogue, Warlock, Mage and Shaman instalment.
Does a Priest's race change what the class can do in Forever?
Yes. Every Priest race has two unique spells and all of them were re-evaluated, with a new Gnome pair added. Fear Ward and Devouring Plague are the exception: both are available to all Priests at level 20 regardless of race.
Can a Hunter play without a pet in Forever?
Lone Wolf is a new 11-point Marksmanship talent granting 20% increased damage with all attacks when no pet is active. Pets that are out now gain stats that rise with the gear their Hunter wears, and they can no longer receive player buffs that raise their stats.
Does shapeshifting still cost a Druid their weapon procs?
No. Weapon enchantments and procs work while shapeshifted, including weightstones, the Crusader enchant and Windfury Totem. In Bear, Cat or Dire Bear Form the melee auto-attack damage per second matches the equipped weapon's, with attack speed set to 1.0 or 2.5 seconds depending on the form.
What happened to Recklessness, Retaliation and Shield Wall?
They no longer share a cooldown with each other, and Retaliation and Shield Wall both have their cooldowns reduced to 15 minutes.
Are any of these talents missing from the beta?
Three Feral Druid talents are published with a note that they are not yet in the beta: Shredding Attacks, Shifting Power and Improved Shifting Power. Blizzard also states that class abilities and talents may keep changing during the beta.
When does World of Warcraft: Forever launch?
November 4, 2026.
