WoW Hotfixes September 4: Enhancement 4-Set and Healer Trinket
Blizzard's September 4 hotfixes restore the Venomous Abyss 4-set bonus to Enhancement Shaman's Crash Lightning and correct the Preternatural Antivenom trinket, which had been capping and healing below its intended values for healer specializations. Balance Druid, Ula'tek, housing Endeavors and Catalyst eligibility also received fixes.

What changed on September 4
Blizzard's September 4 hotfixes are a short batch with two entries that matter to rated players. Crash Lightning now gets the upfront damage increase from the Venomous Abyss 4-set bonus that it was supposed to have, and the Preternatural Antivenom trinket stops shortchanging healers on both its absorb cap and the share of incoming damage it heals. The rest of the batch covers a Balance Druid tracking improvement, one Ula'tek interaction, a housing achievement fix, and a Catalyst eligibility correction.
Classes
Druid
Balance
- Stellar Amplification can now be tracked in the Cooldown Manager.
- Twin Moons' range is now increased by target combat reach, meaning it can spread to farther targets when attacking large enemies.
Shaman
Enhancement
- Corrected an issue where the Venomous Abyss 4-set bonus was not properly increasing the upfront damage of Crash Lightning.
Dungeons and Raids
The Venomous Abyss - Ula'tek
- Fixed an issue where applications of Ingested Venom could apply on a target affected by Serpent's Bite.
Housing
Endeavors - Vacation Season
- Fixed instances where collecting a Secret Souvenir could fail to grant achievement credit. Players who were affected by this bug should see their achievement progress retroactively granted upon entering a housing neighborhood. Taggi is sorry for the mishap.
Items
- Fixed an issue where some non-set class armor items appeared to be eligible for redundant Catalyst conversion.
- Fixed an issue causing the Preternatural Antivenom trinket absorb effect to have a reduced cap for healer specializations as well as healing for a lower percentage of incoming damage than intended.
What this means in rated PvP
Blizzard filed nothing under a Player versus Player heading on September 4, and that is not the same thing as a day with no PvP consequences. Two of these fixes change what happens inside an arena, a Solo Shuffle lobby or a Blitz match, because both of them live on gear that rated players already wear.
The Crash Lightning fix is the one with the clearest effect.
Enhancement Shaman builds its damage around that ability, and raid tier sets are worn in rated play - assembling the four-piece through the Catalyst is a standard part of a PvP gearing plan, not a raider-only concern. Any Enhancement Shaman who had already completed the Venomous Abyss four-piece has been playing without part of the bonus they earned. Blizzard has not published how much of the set bonus was missing, so the size of the gain is not a number worth guessing at; what is certain is that the ability hits harder today than it did yesterday, in every bracket.
The Preternatural Antivenom fix is narrower but points at healers specifically. The trinket infuses a healing target so that a share of the damage they subsequently take is healed back, up to a cap. Both halves of that were underperforming, and both were underperforming for healer specializations in particular - the cap was reduced and the percentage of incoming damage healed was too low. A damage-proportional absorb is at its most valuable exactly where a healer is under sustained, predictable pressure, which describes most of a rated match, so a healer carrying this trinket was getting measurably less than the tooltip described.
The Catalyst entry is worth a moment for anyone still finishing a set. Some non-set class armor appeared eligible for a conversion that would have been redundant, and Venomblight Manaflux charges are limited and slow to accumulate. Spending one on a piece that was never going to improve a set is the kind of mistake that costs a week. If the four-piece is the goal, the Catalyst charges guide covers which conversions actually advance it and how Midnight Season 2: Catalyst Unbound opens further sources.
The Druid entries are the honest exception. Tracking Stellar Amplification in the Cooldown Manager is a genuine quality-of-life gain for a
Balance Druid managing its own damage window, and it applies wherever the spec is played. Twin Moons scaling with target combat reach is a different matter: player characters are not large enemies, so that change is aimed at raid and dungeon targets and should not be read as a Balance buff in arena.
Whether the Enhancement correction moves the spec's standing is a question the ladder answers over the next few days rather than one a hotfix note can settle. The Solo Shuffle tier list below is built from live ladder data, so it is the fastest place to see whether Enhancement's position shifts now that the set bonus is behaving.
PvP tier list
based on the top segment, rating 1825+ · 7,225 playersMetaWhat is not affected
There was no PvP tuning on September 4. No arena, battleground or Solo Shuffle system was touched, no Omnium Folio rune changed, and no class received a PvP-specific damage or healing modifier. The September 1 pace-of-combat pass remains the most recent deliberate PvP tuning, and nothing since has revisited it.
Next steps
- Enhancement Shamans should confirm the four-piece is actually equipped before expecting the change: the Enhancement Shaman gear breakdown for Solo Shuffle shows what the bracket is running.
- Balance Druids can check whether the current builds take the affected talents on the Balance Druid Solo Shuffle talent page.
- Track how the brackets settle on the EU Solo Shuffle meta and US Solo Shuffle meta pages.
- The September 3 hotfixes carry the previous batch, including three published PvP corrections.
FAQ
Did Blizzard make any PvP-specific changes on September 4, 2026?
No. The September 4 hotfixes contain no Player versus Player section and no arena, battleground or Solo Shuffle tuning. Two entries still reach rated play through gear: the Venomous Abyss 4-set fix for Crash Lightning and the Preternatural Antivenom trinket correction.
What was wrong with the Enhancement Shaman 4-set bonus?
The Venomous Abyss 4-set bonus was not properly increasing the upfront damage of Crash Lightning. Blizzard corrected it on September 4. The fix applies anywhere the set is worn, including arena, Solo Shuffle and Battleground Blitz.
How does the Preternatural Antivenom fix affect healers?
The trinket's absorb effect had a reduced cap for healer specializations and healed for a lower percentage of incoming damage than intended. Both problems were corrected, so a healer using it now receives the full intended effect. Blizzard did not publish the previous or corrected values.
Does the Twin Moons change help Balance Druid in arena?
It should not be expected to. Twin Moons' range now scales with target combat reach, which Blizzard describes as letting it spread to farther targets when attacking large enemies. Player characters are not large enemies, so the change is aimed at raid and dungeon encounters.
What does the Catalyst hotfix change?
Some non-set class armor items appeared to be eligible for redundant Catalyst conversion, and that has been fixed. Because Venomblight Manaflux charges accumulate slowly, an incorrectly eligible item could have cost a charge without advancing a set bonus.
Where can I see whether these fixes change the meta?
WoW Tracker's Solo Shuffle tier list and the regional meta pages are built from live ladder data and update as results come in. A single hotfix rarely moves a spec immediately, so compare across several days rather than reading one snapshot.
