When the event runs

The Winds of Mysterious Fortune are live in World of Warcraft: Midnight from September 8 through 22, 2026. Blizzard states that "the event begins and ends with weekly realm restarts", so the opening and closing follow your region's reset rather than a fixed clock time.

Three rewards come with it: a Feat of Strength worth 500 Trader's Tender, a stacking experience buff for characters below level 90, and a satchel that drops while you quest.

How to earn 500 Trader's Tender

Log in with any character on any five days during the event and the Feat of Strength "Winds of Particularly Mysterious Fortune" completes, awarding 500 Trader's Tender. The reward is collected in the Collector's Cache chest and spent at the Trading Post.

September's stall is already open, and the September Trading Post rewards and prices lists what 500 Tender actually buys this month. BlizzCon 2026 falls inside the same window on September 12 and 13 and carries its own viewing rewards, including a further 200 Tender, so the two stack up over the same fortnight.

The experience and reputation buff

Winds of Mysterious Fortune is applied automatically at login for the duration of the event and grants 20% experience to characters between levels 10 and 89.

The same buff also provides, in Blizzard's words, "a 50% reputation gain with all factions worldwide, excluding Zul'jarra's Forces and Tokka's Crew". Those two are the only exclusions; every other faction in the game gains reputation at the faster rate while the buff is up.

The experience half stops at level 89, which makes this alt time rather than main time.

Mysterious Satchels

Characters below level 90 earn Mysterious Satchels by looting creatures and as a bonus reward for completing quests. Inside are temporary stat boosts, visual alterations, a chance for bonus gear appropriate to your level and specialization, and 10% experience potions.

Those potions stack with the 20% buff to a maximum of 30%. They are Warbound items, so they can be drunk during the event or saved for afterwards and used on any other character between levels 10 and 89.

Blizzard notes one restriction on the rest of the contents: "any stat or elemental potion effects will not work in Mythic+ raids or rated PvP content". Carry them for open-world levelling and swap to your usual consumables at an instance portal.

The first satchel you earn on each day of the event is a Pristine Mysterious Satchel instead, which Blizzard describes as "giving you a greater chance to earn even more valuable rewards".

FAQ

When do the Winds of Mysterious Fortune start and end?

The event runs from September 8 through 22, 2026. Blizzard states that it begins and ends with weekly realm restarts, so the exact moment follows your region's reset.

How do I earn the 500 Trader's Tender from this event?

Log in with any character on any five days while the event is running. That completes the Feat of Strength Winds of Particularly Mysterious Fortune, and the 500 Trader's Tender arrives in the Collector's Cache chest to spend at the Trading Post.

Does the 20% experience buff apply at level 90?

No. The buff covers characters from level 10 to 89 and is applied automatically at login. A character already at maximum level gains nothing from the experience portion.

Do the Mysterious Satchel potions work in rated PvP or Mythic+?

No. Blizzard states that any stat or elemental potion effects will not work in Mythic+ raids or rated PvP content. The 10% experience potions are still usable while levelling, and they stack with the event buff to a maximum of 30%.

What makes a Pristine Mysterious Satchel different?

The first Mysterious Satchel you earn on each day of the event is upgraded to Pristine quality, which Blizzard says gives a greater chance at more valuable rewards. Every satchel after the first that day is a standard one.

Which reputations are left out of the 50% reputation bonus?

Zul'jarra's Forces and Tokka's Crew. Every other faction worldwide gains reputation 50% faster while the event buff is active.

Can I save the experience potions for after the event ends?

Yes. The 10% experience potions from Mysterious Satchels are Warbound, so they can be kept past the event and used later on any character between levels 10 and 89.
